Fat Injections

Fat grafting, or autologous fat transfer procedures, have become an important cosmetic procedure in our Seattle area clinic. Fat grafting allows us to volumize and restore youthful contours to the face. The technique involves removing some fat from the tummy or flanks, processing that fat and then carefully placing it in regions of the face to restore volume.  A portion of the grafted fat becomes a living and natural filler.

An additional benefit we have observed with fat grafting is improvement of photo-damaged and wrinkled overlying skin in regions of the face that have received fat grafting.

The fat grafting procedure can be done in the office, as a quick outpatient procedure. Downtime is minimal. Risks include some swelling and bruising in the treated areas. Additional procedures are sometimes needed to achieve the optimal result.

Patients that have experienced the benefits of Juvederm, Radiesse and other facial fillers often desire a filler that is more natural and long-lasting. For these patients, fat grafting has become "the ultimate filler."
