Kybella

Kybella is an injectable treatment that reduces fattiness along the chin and neck regions. Are you tired of your  double chin?  Kybella may be the answer!  Kybella is an FDA-approved injectable medication that melts away fat under the chin.  We have seen some amazing results from Kybella and we are excited to share it with patients that seek improvement of their neck and chin contours. Kybella is made from deoxycholic acid, which melts away fat cells.  Our bodies actually produce deoxycholic acid which assists in the absorption of dietary fats.  

Before and SIX WEEKS after a single Kybella treatment session at Sound Plastic Surgery

The Kybella treatment is administered by one of our board certified plastic surgeons here in the office at Sound Plastic Surgery.  The entire treatment takes only 20 minutes.  This includes the application of a numbing cream under the chin to help with discomfort that we let sit in place for about 10 minutes to take full effect.  Once the skin has been numbed, we then inject the Kybella, using a tiny needle, into the fat under the chin.  Ice is applied afterwards.

Most patients will experience a bit of swelling after the injections, as well as some numbness that goes away.  Discomfort is minimal, and there is no "down time."

After 4-6 weeks, we see our patients back and another Kybella treatment is offered, if indicated.  Most patients require 2-4 treatments to obtain the full effect. 

Good candidates for Kybella have a small to moderate amount of fat under the chin and good skin tone.  Patients with a lot of fat under the chin and a lot of neck fat are best treated with neck liposuction.  Additionally, patients with substantial amount of neck skin laxity may be best treated with a face and neck lift.  Our plastic surgeons will evaluate you carefully, and let you know whether Kybella, liposuction, or a face and neck lift would best meet your goals.
