Arm Lift (Brachioplasty)

Brachioplasty by Seattle area plastic surgeon Dr. Scott Sattler is a post weight loss body contouring procedure that remove excess arm skin and tightens the contour of the arm.

With time and weight gain, fat deposits accumulate in the posterior compartment of the arm. This adds weight and heaviness to the arm, and gradually the skin in this portion of the arm loses elasticity. With rapid weight loss (after bariatric weight-loss surgery, for example) the skin in this region of the arm does not retract around the smaller arm volume. The result is a 'bat wing' deformity, composed of excess arm fat and a great deal of loose arm skin.

Dr. Sattler's brachioplasty technique removes the excess tissue and significantly improves arm contour.  Extra skin is removed from incisions placed along the inner arm or in the axilla.  The most common incision pattern extends from the elbow to the axilla. This permits the excision to maximally address redundant skin in the middle of the arm. The obvious trade-off, from the patient's perspective, is an improved arm contour in exchange for a surgical scar along the inside of the arm. 

Brachioplasty surgery is performed by Dr. Sattler in our on-site, private and accredited surgical facility here in Seattle, WA. Brachioplasty is typically done under a general anesthetic. Recovery after brachioplasty is relatively short. Before and After brachioplasty surgery - for massive weight loss patients, the brachioplasty scar typically runs along the inside of the arm for the entire length of the upper arm.
